Greg Redden lost his home in a house fire at Deerfields. The fire also took his dog, Mr Schuford, and everything he owned. Emergency crews came up the ridge and pulled water from the Mills River to fight it, but they could not save the house. Greg spent four years building that home by hand. It was his masterpiece.
Greg has long been the keeper of Deerfields' history, and much of that history was lost in the fire too.
The house was not insured. Coverage this far out in the mountains is very expensive. The family works hard on this land, but it does not bring in much money, and times have been hard here.
Asking for help does not come easily to this family, and they are asking now. If you have ever laughed, danced, celebrated, or grieved at Deerfields, or if you simply want to help a neighbor start over, please give what you can. Any amount helps, even $5.
You can also join us on Saturday, November 7, for A Benefit for Greg Redden with Acoustic Syndicate, Snake Oil Medicine Show, and Nikki Talley & Jason Sharp. All proceeds go to Greg. Tickets: eqp.me/gregredden
